I am watching Sleeping Beauty for the first time in YEARS tonight. L is sleeping next to me, but I can't bear to turn it off. I don't think I have seen this since I was a young girl, and I forgot how magical this movie is.
Speaking of things I haven't seen or heard of in years, my older sister reminded me today about how we used to take ABC blocks, stick them in our socks, and walk around like we had high heels on. I really do need to teach L some of the things I used to do with my sisters when I was little. I have so many really unique memories of our childhood.
This one's short tonight. Sorry. I have to get back to Beauty. "Once upon a dream....."

Sometimes, things just go your way!
I just received a call from J's teacher. One of the parents that had purchased tickets to the banquet can not go, and his teacher called to see if I would like them. I had gotten over the initial sadness of not getting to go, but this still makes my WEEK! It has been a rather rough week, and hubs and I have both been rather stressed out. I needed a little bit of a boost, and this did the trick!!

Blogging - Day One
This is my very first attempt at blogging. There are so many things that I think of and experience during the day each day, and I just forget to write them down. So, here is as good a place to start as any, considering that I am working on the computer most of my day 5 days out of the week anyway.
So, today, I will start out by stating that we, as parents, no matter how hard we try, miss important opportunites sometimes. My son, "J" is 15, my daughter "L" is 3. Thus my blog title, Mommy of two far aparts! Anyway, my son is in the school choir in 9th grade. He has had a very eventful year, one that has made me very proud to be his mother. He has earned many awards, and went on his first school-related 4 day trip w/ out me. The choir banquet is in a week and a half, money for the tickets was due on Monday of this week......I forgot. I contacted his instructor this afternoon to see if there was any way at all POSSIBLE for us to get the money to her so that we could reserve our spot. Reply? Nope, sorry, money has already been turned over to the caterer. No more reservations will be accepted.
I am so completely bummed out. I wanted to experience this with my son. I spoke with him about it this afternoon after he got home from school and his response was..."It's okay Mom. It's really not that big a deal". It is a big deal to me....but apparently not so much for him. As soon as that little snippet of the conversation was over with, he asked me if he could go out and ride ripsticks w/ his friend down the street. Followed by, "Oh, and what are we having for dinner tonight?"
So, I guess the thought to end the day is that some things that you think will matter to your kids will, and then some just won't.
